Corundum is a mineral, an aluminum oxide, belonging to the group of hematite. It is exactly like alumina, but crystallized in different forms. Corundum, in its most precious qualities, is a precious stone that depending on the color takes on different names, precisely the white corundum which takes its name and color from chemical elements chromophores, which, however, does not alter its chemical composition. The white corundum is used as blasting material in cases where must be strictly avoided ferrous contamination; it is mainly used in special applications (aeronautical sector or construction of reactors) and for the cleaning of stainless steel of aircraft components and turbines, for non-ferrous metals and their alloys, plastics or glass.
The natural characteristic of the white corundum has the exceptional ability to quickly abrade any type of material. And it is particularly suitable for sandblasting with recycling thanks to its high impact resistance.
Treatments are performed on noble metals, plastics, glass, stainless steel, etc.
Among the applications it is used as an anti-slip and anti-wear additive in the manufacture of tiles for floors and in the production of ceramic artifacts.
