The Damar gum is a natural resin of vegetal origin. It is obtained as exudation from trees and then solidified. After being solidified it looks like pale ivory yellow soft and crumbly granules with the typical odour. In the arts and restoration the damar gum is used to prepare the final paints for painting such as a protective coating against wear and discoloration. It is also used as a thickener in cosmetics and as an incense.
